I was never eligible to ride a school bus. In high school, my daughter was, but she chose to use her bike on good-weather days, and I provided transport on others.
Very back, I remember a driver or two who would, if requested, creep the front wheels over a speed bump then floor it. People in the back seats could catch a foot or more of air and if you are lucky (and tall) enough even touch the roof from a seated position!
What seatbelts? I’m guessing this hasn’t been a thing since Gen X though.
School busses were not made for tall people. My private high school rented school busses from the county for things like band trips or sports teams traveling to Reno for tournaments. Even as a freshman, no leg room. The basketball players always limped off the busses at the destination from getting crammed in. Same busses used from kindergarten through senior high (not sure which smelled worse when last used by either extreme)

Very front so that you can get off the bus as quickly as possible.
The center of the bus, equally spaced between the axles is statistically the safest place to sit. The Isle seat is the best position.
All by myself on the wheel well.
FIGHT ME IF YE DARE
All my classes are remote, no bus required.

/showme the best place to sit in a school bus on a long trip
Ideally… next to the cute girl you always liked, but that would be terrifying so pick an empty seat if there is one.
